Boss's handler was Sgt Schmitt. Boss was born in Slovakia in March of 2011. He was partnered with Sgt Schmitt in September of 2012 after 6 weeks of training. Boss was a dual purpose K9 meaning he is trained in patrol work and narcotics. Boss worked from Sept. 2012 to Sept. 2020. In 2015 he was the first dual purpose canine assigned to the drug task force and was there until his retirement. K9 Boss once located a criminal after a 1.5 mile track. Boss had competed in two USPCA national field trials in Florida and Alabama. Boss is responsible for the apprehension of over 100 criminals and hundreds of pounds of narcotics. K9 Boss has received the VCSO catch of the year award 5 times. Boss loved doing demonstrations for the community.
Sgt Schmitt says "K9 Boss and I were partnered together for 8 years. Boss was known as a social and friendly K9. He had an amazing On/Off switch while at work. Calm one second, and ready to work the next. K9 Boss lived at home with his two human brothers and his mom and dad."
Ali served with unwavering dedication on the K9 force for many years. She deserves a life of comfort, love, and relaxation in his golden years.
